THE SKINNY: New Line Cinema has a top secret plan for a new franchise to take the place of their well-milked LORD OF THE RINGS cash cow. Its name is OSIRIS RELEASE, and the idea is to line up a cast of international hot young things in a super-powered action extravaganza.
The studio is in talks with TV dreamboats Ian Somerhalder (LOST), Matthew Bomer (TRU CALLING), Jason Behr (ROSWELL), Jared Leto (MY SO-CALLED LIFE), Kevin Zegers (ZOOM), Mitch Morris (QUEER AS FOLK) and Bryan Greenberg (ONE TREE HILL) for the main American roles.
And to reach the international market, they are casting foreign actors such as France's Gaspard Ulliel (HANNIBAL RISING), Britain's Lee Williams (NEW STREET LAW), Italy's Riccardo Scamarcio (CRIME NOVEL), German actor Knut Berger (WALK ON WATER), Brazilian Reynaldo Gianecchini (BELISSIMA), and Argentine actress Emilia Attías.
Director Hideo Nakata left the project and now a new director is being sought after. Joss Whedon, Takashi Shimizu, Alejandro Amenabar and James McTeigue are in talks to take the empty chair.
OSIRIS RELEASE concerns five young men who discover that they are the reincarnations of ancient Egyptian Gods. Situated in the modern day world, the new gods will have to use their super powers to protect the world from the apocalypse and a group of enemies yet to come.
Scheduled for a late 2008 release, the studio expects OSIRIS to launch a new franchise.

Will the invisible jet ever take flight? The club of directors who've loved and left Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman project — Ivan Reitman, George Miller — just gained a new member in Joss Whedon. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator, attached as a writer-director since March 2005, announced Feb. 2 that he was withdrawing from the film due to creative differences. As he explained on whedonesque.com, ''I had a take on the film that, well, nobody liked.'' This came a day after a report that the studio and producer Joel Silver were purchasing a rival Wonder script by rookie writers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland. While Whedon turns his attention to polishing the supernatural pic Goners for Universal, Warner Bros. and Silver remain tight-lipped about the plans for their Woman. Where's that lasso of truth when you need it?

Ten years ago today, Buffy the Vampire Slayer debuted on television. I hadn't realized that it had been that long. Ten years Damn I feel old.
Buffy was the first show I ever really got into. I mean I never missed a episode. It was the first show that I was emotionally drawn into. From the moment I watched the first episode. I was a fan ever since the Series first aired on March 10, 1997.
This was also the first fandom I ever read fiction. I still read fiction based on my favorite characters but with new shows airing and my interests in television has changed sadly I haven't read much BTVS fiction because truthfully the genre is dwindling I hope that people still write new fiction but I haven't read any good new fiction. I have met a lot of amazing people because of the love of this cult hit but sadly I have lost touch with a lot ot them they are still on my flist but with interests changing of course we have loss touch but I hope not forever.
I am convinced and no one can tell me otherwise. Buffy the vampire slayer was and still is the best show that ever aired on television. When the television was flooded with carbon copy shows. Buffy was and still is unique and original. This emmy nominated series is the brain child of Joss Whedon, creator, writer and director of the Buffy the vampire Series , what a Genius.
The show blended so many genre into one show which is what gave it it's freshness. The dialog is legendary and the wit and smart ass remarks of it's leads are so entertaining. But it's the characters and the bond that was undeniable between the characters that made the show.
The writing was fresh, smart and brilliant. Even though the show dealt with supernatural elements there was real problems we could all relate to weaved into the written words.
For the first time in a while the main characters was not the popular kids they were just the ordinary teens just trying to survive the hell that was high school and life. Buffy provides a niche for the unpopular misfits in high school, but looks upon them as heroes. Were you as uncomfortable as Xander (Nicholas Brendon)? As geeky as Willow (Alyson Hannigan)? As quick with an aphorism as Oz (Seth Green)? The series proves that high school is indeed survivable no matter who you are, even if you're cliquish Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter). And in the end, the more unpopular you were - possibly the more important you were to your teenage community.
Buffy is still relevant now as it was then. This show paved the way for a lot of shows on the air today. Buffy was and still is the first show I truly loved I identifiedwith the characters and I felt the pains they were going through. It made me also realize that I wasn't alone because even though the show dealt with far fetched themes we could all relate to the undeniable truth ordinary people can do extraordinary things and that High School is Hell. That life is sometimes hard to bear but with the help of family and friends you can survive anything.
Happy Anniversary, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

*WB revisits glory days*
*Net plans to go out with a bang*
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER, JOSEF ADALIAN
The Frog is planning one last hurrah before it croaks.
The WB will sign off the air forever on Sunday, Sept.
17, by rebroadcasting the pilot episodes of several of
its signature skeins, including "Buffy, the Vampire
Slayer," "Felicity" and "Dawson's Creek."
Landing the rights to air the series required outgoing
WB supremo Garth Ancier and the net's remaining execs
to conduct a delicate licensing ballet with the
outside studios that own those skeins, and cablers
that now play home to the shows.
In addition to the pilots, Frog plans to fill its
final night with a bevy of classic promos and image
campaigns from the WB's 11-year history. There'll also
be a final tribute reel featuring the hundreds of
thesps who've appeared on WB skeins over the years.
