Dushku replaces Katheryn Winnick, who has departed the 20th Century Fox TV pilot. Happy Anniversary, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

  • Mar. 10th, 2007 at 6:06 PM
House Cool
Ten years ago today, Buffy the Vampire Slayer debuted on television. I hadn't realized that it had been that long. Ten years Damn I feel old.

Buffy was the first show I ever really got into. I mean I never missed a episode. It was the first show that I was emotionally drawn into. From the moment I watched the first episode. I was a fan ever since the Series first aired on March 10, 1997.

This was also the first fandom I ever read fiction. I still read fiction based on my favorite characters but with new shows airing and my interests in television has changed sadly I haven't read much BTVS fiction because truthfully the genre is dwindling I hope that people still write new fiction but I haven't read any good new fiction. I have met a lot of amazing people because of the love of this cult hit but sadly I have lost touch with a lot ot them they are still on my flist but with interests changing of course we have loss touch but I hope not forever.

I am convinced and no one can tell me otherwise. Buffy the vampire slayer was and still is the best show that ever aired on television. When the television was flooded with carbon copy shows. Buffy was and still is unique and original. This emmy nominated series is the brain child of Joss Whedon, creator, writer and director of the Buffy the vampire Series , what a Genius.

The show blended so many genre into one show which is what gave it it's freshness. The dialog is legendary and the wit and smart ass remarks of it's leads are so entertaining. But it's the characters and the bond that was undeniable between the characters that made the show.

The writing was fresh, smart and brilliant. Even though the show dealt with supernatural elements there was real problems we could all relate to weaved into the written words.

For the first time in a while the main characters was not the popular kids they were just the ordinary teens just trying to survive the hell that was high school and life. Buffy provides a niche for the unpopular misfits in high school, but looks upon them as heroes. Were you as uncomfortable as Xander (Nicholas Brendon)? As geeky as Willow (Alyson Hannigan)? As quick with an aphorism as Oz (Seth Green)? The series proves that high school is indeed survivable no matter who you are, even if you're cliquish Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter). And in the end, the more unpopular you were - possibly the more important you were to your teenage community.

Buffy is still relevant now as it was then. This show paved the way for a lot of shows on the air today. Buffy was and still is the first show I truly loved I identifiedwith the characters and I felt the pains they were going through. It made me also realize that I wasn't alone because even though the show dealt with far fetched themes we could all relate to the undeniable truth ordinary people can do extraordinary things and that High School is Hell. That life is sometimes hard to bear but with the help of family and friends you can survive anything.

Happy Anniversary, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

MACAULAY GOES FOR GROUP SEX FILM

Former child star MACAULAY CULKIN has signed up for a racy new role in a film focusing on group sex. The movie, SEX AND BREAKFAST, is a dark comedy about a couple with problems in the bedroom who seek guidance from a therapist. The counsellor then suggests group sex as a solution to their problems. Culkin explains, "I read a lot of material and loved this script. It's really about the pressure that leads them to experiment, the anticipation leading up to the event and then the fallout." The film has already begun shooting and also features BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER star ELIZA DUSHKU, ALEXIS DZIENA and KUNO BECKER.

*WB revisits glory days*
*Net plans to go out with a bang*

By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER, JOSEF ADALIAN

The Frog is planning one last hurrah before it croaks.
The WB will sign off the air forever on Sunday, Sept.
17, by rebroadcasting the pilot episodes of several of
its signature skeins, including "Buffy, the Vampire
Slayer," "Felicity" and "Dawson's Creek."

Landing the rights to air the series required outgoing
WB supremo Garth Ancier and the net's remaining execs
to conduct a delicate licensing ballet with the
outside studios that own those skeins, and cablers
that now play home to the shows.

In addition to the pilots, Frog plans to fill its
final night with a bevy of classic promos and image
campaigns from the WB's 11-year history. There'll also
be a final tribute reel featuring the hundreds of
thesps who've appeared on WB skeins over the years.

Buffy creator says money issues led to demise of Spike, Faith and Willow movies.

Though it seemed less and less likely as time went on, Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Angel fans have still been holding out hope that the discussed made for TV or DVD movies featuring characters from those two beloved series would eventually happen. Unfortunately though, it seems that the movies are officially dead in the water, as Buffy / Angel creator Joss Whedon himself has now confirmed the recent rumors that they were not happening.

SPIKE MOVIE E-MAIL

Even though the hope of a Buffyverse /Angelverse Spin-off is most likely not going to happen from what Angel star Amy Acker said to Sky Portal it's almost certain not going to happen. But I still got this from 10 of my on-line friends from the net. So scroll down if you want to at least want your voices heard.

There was suppose to be a Trio of movies centered around the Buffyverse/Angelverse. Joss's plan was to do a Spike, Faith and Willow Straight to DVD movies. But from what Amy Acker said "Fox couldn't get it together the way Joss wanted to do them." so sadly looks like it won't be happening.

But people are not giving up you can do the SUPPORT SPIKE CAMPAIGN or there is a FAITH THE VAMPIRE SLAYER CAMPIAGN.

Original E-mail:

Please forward the following post all over the NET. This is only the first
of a series of campaigns I see happening to push Fox into the 3 mini-series
Joss had planned for continuing the Buffy and Angelverses.

Keep in mind that to get a movie or miniseries with any of the characters
you like, we need to push them all. If you don't like Spike, remember that
Willow and Faith are part of the mini-series plan. Let's show Fox the power
of our pocketbooks and wallets. That they could have a franchise as strong
and everlasting as Paramount's Star Trek.

Hi All,

The Support Spike website has been updated with information for Campaign #9.
I used paxo's basic format and did a little tweaking. Take a look and let
me know what you think. Then, we can start spreading the word. Basically,
Amy just reconfirmed what we already knew - the network seems to be the main
stumbling block.

Go HERE for Postcards and complete Information...

Also Send a On-line Postacrd to The CW (WB/UPN New Station)

*We know who the players are: Tim Minear, James Marsters and Amy Acker.

*We know the format: straight to DVD.

*We write our postcards, and make efforts to praise Fox for producing
Buffy/Angel, but request strong support for a Spike movie helmed by Minear,
starring Marsters, and going straight to DVD. We point out that we are only
a vocal minority, that there are a legion of quieter fans not sending
postcards who would snap up such a film.

*We know a date: Send on or about June 20, 2006 so they will arrive by Joss
Whedon's Birthday on June 23rd.

The more postcards arriving at the same time, the bigger the impact.
Please feel free to use the postcards below or choose postcards from your
hometown to show the diversity of the fanbase. E-mail

total.

FAITH THE VAMPIRE SLAYER CAMPAIGN

  • Apr. 1st, 2006 at 12:00 AM
House Cool
Okay since it looks like the sun might be setting for the Spike Movie from what James Marsters recently said in his latest INTERVIEW.  But there is still hope. Joss has said if " I go back to "Angel" or "Buffy" it will be through "Willow or Faith, or another character that has great resonance with fans."

Also he has said at a convention in 2003
"Obviously I'm not going to wish ill on Eliza's new show," Whedon said diplomatically, "but boy, do I want to see Faith again! As I've said, we're all just sort of reeling from the last seven years, and we don't have any particular plans, but if Eliza became available, I think that would probably become an issue because there's not a person on my staff who isn't hungry to do something about that."

He was also quoted in a article when someone asked is the Buffyverse going to continue. He said "You all just have to have FAITH" chuckled and walked away. Is that a Hint????

Eliza has also said :

"Joss and I discussed the (Faith) spinoff as an idea, and I want to work with him again, whether it's a spin-off or a film," Dushku said. "I love his writing. He's the man."

But also there might be another venue for the Jossverse to continue threw Spike and Illirya. In January of 2006 Amy Ackler has said to kristin from Eonline :

"[Joss and I] had dinner last night," Amy told me, "and he was still talking about doing the Spike movie." When I asked if she'd want to be a part of it, she said, "If it's Joss, of course I'll do whatever. I'll, like, be the costume designer! I don't care!" But for the time being, James Marsters is tied up with Smallville, so we shall see, mes cheris.

But the logical step does seem to be a faith series. James Marsters has said he would gladly do a Faith Spin-Off and Eliza Dushku had said vice versa about a Spike Movie. So if you are interested in getting a Faith Movie or Series out there. Make some noise. There is some campaigns out there.

Also a few faith PEITITIONS
